A rare opportunity to see inside this Grade II* listed mansion, now owned by IBM. Visitors will be able to explore this stunning house & IBM's unique museum. Guides will be available to answer questions & to reveal the fascinating history of Hursley.
Hursley House is an 18th century ‘Queen Anne’ style mansion set in the heart of a 450-acre medieval deer park. Since its construction by Sir William Heathcote in the 1720s the house has undergone numerous changes, most notably in 1902, when its new owners, the Coopers, enlarged and redecorated it to the finest Edwardian standards, creating the Grade II* Listed building that can be seen today. However, there is far more to Hursley's history than simply a fine stately home.
For almost 1,500 years Hursley has played an important role in the shaping of the English nation; from the 7th Century, with the foundation of the Bishopric of Winchester, through to the technological innovations that pervade our everyday lives today.
The current owners of the House, IBM, have created a Museum within some of the rooms, tracing the story of IBM and the innovations which have been conceived at Hursley. Please book this part of the tour on arrival at Hursley house.
