I wanted to personally share my 9/11 story, as I was here in NYC when it happened, working as an analyst on Wall Street, 22 years old and just figuring out my way. Suddenly, the whole world changed in a single day. We were evacuated from our building. I couldn't get in touch with anyone—it was one of the scariest days of my life. That was the day I became a true New Yorker. As the city came together in the most stunning of ways, I realized we are all in this together. In many respects, this coming together showed me with vivid clarity that community is everything, that dance heals suffering — and Daybreaker is an expression of that experience.
Our goal with the 90's theme was to throw a dance party that exalted at life, that shared the light of dance and music while still paying homage to the victims and survivors. But with more thought, and as a 9/11 survivor myself, I realized after sending the email that it didn’t feel quite right. So here we are, sharing that we too make mistakes, change our minds and overthink things—that's a part of life.
In honor of this reflection, we are paying tribute with a new theme: We Join us as we dance together to New York’s most stunning music, remembering that life is precious and that we should always make time for play. Wear whatever reminds you of our fair city and we'll see you on the dance floor for a morning we won't soon forget.

9/11 is a very important date for our city, our Daybreaker family, and our co-founder and MC, who were both there firsthand. We chose to come together on this difficult day to look towards the One World Trade Center, send love and pay homage—to remember that even through the hardest of times, we can all love, dance and be free.️
So, on Wednesday, September 11, join us as we open our hearts for a morning of catharsis and dance therapy atop the rooftop of the William Vale. Let’s spill our love for this beautiful city, and each other, as we wear our New York’s best and send waves of gratitude to the Five Boroughs.
This is our chance to wake up and join hands as one family, one community, one city strong. To seal our morning, we’ll join the rest of NYC for two shared moments of silence during the closing ceremony.
