The nineteenth annual Wellfleet OysterFest® will take place the weekend after Columbus Day ~ Saturday and Sunday, October 19 & 20, 2019 from 10am until 5pm in Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This two-day family festival celebrates the town's famous oysters, clams and shellfishing traditions bringing together locals and visitors alike for a weekend full of hometown flavor and big time fun! There is something for everyone: local cuisine, a fine art and craft show, educational programs, culinary demonstrations, children's activities, shellfish farm tours, live music and the annual Oyster Shuck-Off competition.

Wellfleet SPAT, Shellfish Promotion and Tasting, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that produces and promotes the Wellfleet OysterFest®. The organization is devoted to sustaining Wellfleet's shellfishing and aquaculture industries. The Wellfleet OysterFest began in 2001 as an impromptu event intended for Wellfleet residents to celebrate the bounty of the fall season. It was so successful that organizers committed to hold the event annually. The event has been wildly successful attracting an average of 20,000 visitors to the Cape during the shoulder season.
Even the name honors the oyster. The acronym SPAT is also the name for a newly attached baby oyster. SPAT produces several fundraising events each year proceeds from which support the organization’s educational mission which include a college scholarship program, community grant awards and initiatives to support Wellfleet’s shellfishing and aquaculture industries. To date, SPAT has awarded more than $514,000 between the high school scholarship program and its community grants.

- Admission is $10 per day. Children 12 and under are free.
- Wellfleet residents are admitted free on Sunday with proof of residence.
- Please no pets, only service animals will be allowed into festival grounds.
- Do not leave animals in your parked cars.
- Absolutely no outside alcohol will be allowed into the ‘Fest. All bags are subject to search.
- The Wellfleet OysterFest is eliminating the use of plastic. All food vendors will be serving food items on backyard compostable paper goods. Beverages will be sold in cans or stainless steel reusable cups. Please bring your own reusable NON-GLASS water bottle to refill at our water stations. And Say No To Plastic!
SPAT offers FREE shuttle transportation from the town parking lots listed below. Shuttles run approximately every 20 minutes and drop off at Town Center from 9:30 am until 5:30 pm. Please be advised that most of the municipal lots and private businesses charge a fee for parking. All parking is subject to availability so please carpool to reduce congestion.
There is a $10 fee per car to park at the town beach parking lots including Newcomb’s Hollow Beach, White Crest Beach and LeCounts Hollow Beach (Maguire Landing). Please go to those beach lots in the order listed. Anyone with a Resident Beach or Resident Beach/Transfer sticker will not be charged for parking at the beach lots during OysterFest. The Town Pier and other businesses charge for parking.
SPAT provides limited handicap parking at the Mayo Beach Parking Area with wheelchair accessible shuttle bus service to the center of town. The Wellfleet Congregational Church at 200 Main Street will reserve 20 handicapped spaces on a first come first serve basis. Fee for parking at the church is by donation, $25 is suggested. Drivers are permitted and encouraged to drop off persons in wheelchairs at either entrance to the Fest and then park the car in any of the available lots. OysterFest staff or Wellfleet Police will assist upon request.
Additional free parking with walking access to the 'Fest is located at the Wellfleet Elementary School on Lawrence Rd., Cove Corner on Route 6 and the Mayo Beach Parking Area. Please consider our neighbors by not parking in unauthorized lots, drives or town streets. The Town of Wellfleet will ticket or in some cases tow vehicles in invalid parking spaces.
