Dear Morning@Lohikan`s!
We are happy to invite you to our next event BioInformatic Morning@Lohika! We are having a great speaker Dmytro Fishman, Assistant of Data Science, Junior Research Fellow in Bioinformatics, University of Tartu. Language: English
The event will take place on the 21st of July, at Lohika Lviv Office.
Dmytro Fishman
His current research is focused on applying machine learning and data mining methods to biological data. For the PhD thesis, Dmytro is building an automatic tool for analyzing protein microarray experiments in immunological studies. With colleagues, he is using Deep Learning on various biological data, including genomic data and microscopy images. Also, he has experience teaching different machine learning related subjects both at the University of Tartu and as an invited lecturer in companies. A certified trainer in Data Carpentry and Software Carpentry organizations that organize and carry out training for scientists in the core data science skills around the world.

How a data scientist can help to advance healthcare
This talk will start with the speaker's personal story of how he ended up doing projects related to healthcare, medicine and biology. He will describe some relevant projects that he is a part of along with data science methods that I use. Next, we will look into ways how one of the most famous AI methods - deep learning, can be used in medicine and biology. We will discuss its achievements, failures and perspectives in this field. At last we will discuss one of the successful applications of deep learning in biology that I am working on - detecting nuclei from microscopy images.
