Students across Windsor-Essex are invited to participate in the Solcz Family Foundation Forest Planting week taking place between Tuesday May 21 and Friday May 24 2019. During this week, over 800 students will learn how their connection with nature affects the world around them. They will gain firsthand experience in planting a 32-acre restoration site in the Lebo Creek watershed, which increases tree cover, habitat for wildlife and improves the water quality of Lake Erie. The students will plant trees alongside knowledgeable ERCA staff as well as skilled and trained secondary Environmental SHSM and ECO Team students!
Thank you to the Solcz Family Foundation for Connecting Kids to Nature!
Registration for Schools
When making reservations through the online ticketing system, please reserve the number of spaces required for your students only. We would like each school to fill a bus with multiple classes. Adult chaperones will be accounted for in another section of this registration.
*Please note; While Essex Region Conservation will continue to pay for the bussing for students to attend, teachers must arrange for their own bussing. Bus companies can bill us directly.
Register for your preferred date and time slot (please note, once slots are full we will contact you for confirmation)
Planting Day Considerations
The planting will take place on each day rain or shine. As May weather can be variable, we encourage teachers to communicate with students and parents leading up to the event on what to pack. Students should bring with them a reusable water bottle, and dress for the weather. All students should have closed toed shoes. Rain boots or hiking books are preferable. Students should dress in layers as well and pack an extra pair of socks in their bags. Sunglasses and hats are helpful when planting on warm sunny spring days.
Solcz Family Foundation Forest Location
The address 2118 Mersea Road 2 is the closest to the site. Solcz Family Foundation Forest is located on the other side of the road, east of this location. ERCA staff will place signs out on planting days and welcome the busses and vehicles.
