FAQs
I will be moving to Hawai‘i and I require assistance with housing. Is housing provided by Graduate Division or UHM?
Unfortunately, the Graduate Division office does not provide housing to graduate students. You can begin your search for housing resources on the UHM Student Housing Services website.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?
We encourage ridesharing, taking TheBus or the Rainbow Shuttle to get to our event (find different ways to Manoa here). All day parking is available in the Lower Campus Parking Structure or in the Upper Campus green Visitors Stalls. Visit the Commuter Service website for updated parking fees, maps, and the Rainbow Shuttle schedule.
Can I bring a friend or family member to the event?
We are glad to hear you have a supportive community. However, orientation is geared towards UHM graduate students. We hope to reserve all orientation resources for incoming students. Please make arrangements for your guest to engage in other activities in while you attend orientation.
I will not arrive in Honolulu before orientation. Is there a virtual orientation available?
Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to provide a virtual orientation option. Typically, orientation is held only once per academic year. Please contact your program staff to obtain the critical information you need to get started successfully. Graduate Division and many other student service offices on campus would be happy to meet with you if you need additional support.
I am an international exchange student, what is my orientation process?
It is best for exchange students to be in direct contact with your program staff in order to identify information that is specific and relevant to you. Please visit the International Student Services (ISS) office website for more information.
