Washington's favorite sports blog, Russian Machine Never Breaks, and Arlington's favorite bookstore, One More Page Books, are teaming together to bring you everyone's favorite hockey blogger-correspondent-YouTuber-author, Steve "Dangle" Glynn!
Join us for an afternoon of FUN as Steve signs his book "This Team is Ruining My Life (But I Love Them): How I Became a Professional Hockey Fan," which details his incredible odyssey, from self-starting Toronto Maple Leafs-lover to sports-media star.
Can't make the event? That's okay! Order a signed copy from One More Page Books here, and we'll ship it to you after the event on August 24th: https://www.onemorepagebooks.com/team-ruining-my-life-steve-dangle-glynn
From the publisher:
How do you turn ranting about hockey into a career? Steve “Dangle” Glynn is a YouTuber, podcaster, and sports personality from Toronto, who managed to turn a 16-second online rant about the Maple Leafs into a career in sports media. From video blogging in his parents’ house at 19 to yelling on televisions across Canada at 28, Dangle has been involved with some of the most important sports companies in the country.
In between tales of Steve’s adventures, both online and off, This Team Is Ruining My Life is also a kind of how-to (or how-not-to) guide: in an ever-evolving media landscape, sometimes you have to get creative to find the job you want. This is Steve Dangle and his accidentally on purpose journey through sports media so far.
Steve “Dangle” Glynn is a lifelong Leafs fan who began making YouTube videos about his favorite team when he was still a teen. Now he gets to work at Sportsnet for a living. (Still no Cup, though.) Steve and his wife have two wonderful dogs. They live together in the ’Shwa (Oshawa, Ontario).
Russian Machine Never Breaks is a credentialed blog/media conglomerate all about the Washington Capitals. Since 2009, they have written about their favorite team, the NHL in general, and Alex Ovechkin in particular. With over 14,000 articles and 87 million pageviews, it’s kind of a thing now. Their so big even Alex Ovechkin follows them on Instagram. Their mission is simple: Make hockey as fun to read about as it is to watch.
One More Page Books & More is an independent bookstore serving Arlington/Falls Church where the staff members take books, wine, and chocolate more seriously than themselves. Opened in 2011, One More Page hosts many author events, book festivals, and wine-tastings throughout the year, and its staff members are never short on opinions or book recommendations. Notable shoppers include: the wonderful people of the DMV area, President Barack Obama and his daughters, former Capitals backup goaltender Philipp Grubauer, and once, many moons ago, starting Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby. Holts bought Ulysses. Because of course he did.
