The 2019 Diocesan Convention will have its official start at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 25 with optional pre-Convention workshops the evening of Thursday, October 24. 

REGISTRATION

Online registration for all attendees will close October 10.

Registration for Lay Delegates and Voting Clergy*

Regular registration as a lay delegate or voting clergy is $40.00 per person with a deadline of Monday, September 30. If you choose to pay by check, it must be received in the diocesan office by that date. Payments received after September 30 or submitted at the door will be $60.00 per person even if registration was prior to September 30.

Beginning October 1, late registration for lay delegates and voting clergy will continue online at a cost of $60.00 per person and close October 10.

*Every Member of the Clergy who is canonically resident in the Diocese and who is ecclesiastically employed or appointed by the Bishop to ecclesiastical service in the Diocese or resident within it shall have a seat and vote in the Convention. A Member of the Clergy, licensed by the Bishop, who has charge of a Parish or Mission in the Diocese when Convention convenes shall also be entitled to a seat and vote. (Constitution Article 4, Sec. 4.)

This means that clergy in any of the following category are eligible to register as convention delegates:
1) Canonically resident clergy who are employed in, or appointed by the bishop to, ecclesiastical service within the diocese
2) Canonically resident clergy residing within the diocese (including retired clergy)
3) Clergy licensed by the bishop to be in charge of a parish or mission of the diocese without regard to their canonical or actual residence

Registration for Alternate Delegates, Visitors, and Non-Voting Clergy

Registration for alternate delegates, visitors, and non-voting clergy will be $10.00 per person at all times. People registering as visitors, alternates, and non-canonical clergy are welcome to attend all business and worship sessions and register for the special events listed below. 

SPECIAL EVENTS

These events are open to all registered attendees. Registration for all special events will close Thursday, October 10.

Pre-Convention Workshops

As a special pre-Convention event, we are offering the following workshops:
• The Future of the Diocese: Who, What, Where
• Congregational Life: Parish Discernment Committees
• Finance: Best Practices for Churches
• Communications: You, Your Phone, and Great Photos
• Latino Ministry

Pre-registration is required; there is no cost to participate in a workshop.

ECW Luncheon

The ECW Luncheon will be Friday, October 25. The meal selections are: Chef Salad; Chicken Croissant; or Vegetarian Focaccia Wedge. In the registration process, you will be prompted to choose an entree. Pre-registration is required; the cost is $22.50. 

Social Hour Reception 

Following the close of business Friday, join us for light appetizers and fellowship as we unnwind and enjoy social time with other convention attendees. Entertainment will be provided by attendees in the form of karaoke and conversation. Beverages will be available for purchase at the event. Pre-registration is required; the cost is $20.

Breakfast for Non-clergy Partners & Spouses of Clergy 

This Saturday, October 26 breakfast is open to all non-clerical partners and spouses of clergy. This informal gathering will include assorted pastries, fruit, and coffee. Pre-registration is required; the cost of $10. 

HOTEL INFORMATION

Attendees are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements. Rooms are available at The Grand Hotel, connected to the Salem Convention Center. Convention rates are $149.00 for deluxe rooms and $159.00 for suite rooms, not including tax and fees. This special rate will apply until September 24 as long as rooms are available. REFUND POLICY

Please send refund requests to: ConventionSecretary@diocese-oregon.org with "Refund Request" in the subject line. A 50% refund is available for requests made by September 24. No refunds will be made after September 24.
