Date change!  We'll be hoofing and clawing our way out of town soon.  Not because of Irma.  The little girly hurricane doesn't scare us at all.   Rather, we just found a killer motel deal in Birmingham, Alabama that looks to good to pass up. Our favorite sport in the winter Olympics is not curling, although we admire the ability to bowl on the frozen tundra under constant threat of polar bear attack, and the athletes ability to endure the relentless mocking they receive from playing the lamest sport ever to appear on prime time TV. No, we love the "biathalon", the half mad concoction of cross country skiing and rifle shooting dominated by the lanky Norwegians. If you're ever roughing it in the Fjords around Lilyhammer come January, those skills will come in handy. For summers in Naples though, you're better off with talent for the "surf and turf" biathalon. Some days we're just 30 minutes of A/C malfunction away from spontaneous combustion. So we hop in the surf to cool off then hoof it over to T-Michaels, to enjoy its stunning bay views and scrumptious surf and turf munchies. This culinary hot spot is half rodeo, half crab fest; cowboy meets lobster-girl; haute cuisine greets the happy hour scene. It's a culinary biathlon with gold medals just for showing up (also for "best all weather tights" and "marksmanship"). So we almost fell out of our saddle (OK, saddle decorated high chair) when they agreed to let us reserve 20 bay-side seats and lobster traps for our preposterously popular happy hour club at their fine establishment. This event promises witty banter in delightfully charming company, punctuated with periodic scarfing of gourmet delicacies and adult beverages, priced well below the obscene and wholly unjustified dinner hour rates.  Even discounted, this place is not cheap; if your budget requires eating Top Ramen for the week prior - so be it. Afterwards, savings in hand, we plan to shop at the exorbitant boutiques in the Venetian Village, provided we win the lottery before September 7th or have a lobotomy, or both, given the inherent synergies.
