The International Social Work Summit for Africa is committed to improving and developing social work, social welfare, social justice and generally social life of Africans and the African Continent. The Summit is an international event/forum for public-private international cooperation between Africa and the rest of the World.
The Summit engages the foremost professionals, policy makers, experts, researchers, teachers, social workers, and other leaders of society to shape Africa in line with global, agenda on social work and social welfare.
It was established as a not-for-profit platform and is headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria, while it is non-governmental, independent and with no special interests. The Summit will continue to strive in all its efforts to demonstrate good social welfare in the African public interest while upholding the highest standards of social governance.
The Summit carefully blends and balances the best of many kinds of individuals and institutions, from the public and private sectors, international organizations, academic institutions, and professional bodies.
We believe that progress happens by bringing together people from all walks of life, who are passionate and committed to driving and influencing social work towards making positive growth and developmental changes in the life of the African People and the Africa continent.
AIMS OF ISWS4A
The Summit aims at bringing together communities of stakeholders in African Social Work, dedicated to finding lasting solutions to social problems in Africa. One of the Summit’s primary goals is to engage stakeholders in the private and public sectors, within and outside in the African continent, people who are passionate about social development and human welfare, ensuring their voices, perspectives and ideas are heard while synergizing with peers around the world, bringing about enduring and positive change to the continent vis-à-vis strong, well structured and organised social welfare systems in the entire continent.
This event will bring together a community of thought leaders from private sector, parliaments, NGOs, governments, funders and other keys professionals committed to developing sustainable social work/welfare strategies in Africa.
It will also directly involve young social workers to help understand, drive, identifying & x-raying the many problems and challenges faced in securing meaningful social life for African peoples while exploring potentials and opportunities available to drive the growth and development of social life in the African Continent with a view to aligning and re-aligning our socio-cultural values with the modern day realities and global trends.
The Summit will also explore several sub-themes that contribute to and enhance social transformation and development of the entire continent while sharing global experiences from some of the strong social welfare systems in Europe, Canada and USA.
