One-time only free Brazilian drumming workshop. RSVP now to secure your spot. Western Sydney Samba turns 5 this month and to celebrate, we're holding a free open drumming workshop! Yew \o/! Come and add another exhilarating life experience to your list! Absolutely no experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and have some fun! We're very privileged to be part of a community in Parramatta that is so rich in cultural diversity … and we'd love to bring some more of the samba spirit and joy to the community. Anyone is welcome, as long as you can count to 2, you can join us! It's also a great opportunity to meet new people. On the evening we'll be dabbling in some Afro-Brazilian rhythms and before you know it, the group will be collectively playing an energetic rhythm that we hope you'll take home with you in your hearts and minds! Side effects - It's highly addictive! You may find yourself wanting more, or wanting to join the group, or wanting to perform with us at future gigs! That's ok, we'll help you work though the side effects :) You may also have difficulty getting the rhythm or the mnemonic out of your heads … mmm we don't really have a cure for that sorry, but feel free to blame us! Now for the fine print - all drums are provided, however we only have limited places available so please RSVP to secure your spot. Wear something loose and comfortable, particularly on your feet as we'll be standing for most of the session. We'll have a break during the session, so feel free to bring a snack with you and some water (there is a kitchen there if you want to fill up your water bottle). Harry Todd Band Hall is a wheelchair friendly venue, with disabled parking out the front and equipped with disabled toilets - so let nothing stop you :) Address is Jubiliee Lane Parramatta, 5-10 mins walk from Parramatta and Harris Park stations, right next to Jubilee Park. If coming by car, enter Jubilee Lane via Marion or High streets (GPS' tend to direct you to the other side of the park, so be sure to look for Marion and High Streets).
