What happens when I get there?
On arrival, your ticket will be scanned and you’ll be given an Entry Wristband. This is your key to GABS, and will be loaded with any GABS Currency you’ve purchased with your ticket, or that you top up before or at the festival. Season Pass ticket holders will be given a tamper proof wristband (with barcode) which must be worn for all sessions that you attend.
Please be prepared to show your valid ID. GABS Auckland is an over 18s event. People under the age of 18 will not be permitted entry. Please note all bags are subject to inspection at any point during the event. Bottles, cans, glass, food, drink, alcohol, illicit drugs, illegal substances, fireworks, explosives or anything that can be used as a weapon cannot be brought into the festival.
As you enter, you’ll be given a Souvenir Festival Glass and your Official GABS Guide. And then you’re good to go!
How does GABS Currency work?
GABS is a 100% cashless event. With no cash to handle, this helps our bars and exhibitors process transactions quickly, which means more time for you to enjoy the festival.
How can I purchase GABS Currency?
GABS Currency can be purchased with your ticket in amounts of $25, $50 and $75. We highly recommend you pre-purchase Currency so you can fully enjoy the festival from the get-go. For reference, a paddle of five 85mL tasters costs $12, and a 285mL Festival Glass fill is $6.50 and up.
I’ve already bought my ticket, but think I’ll need more Currency. Help!
If you need to top up at the event, just head to one of our Currency stands or a roving Currency Seller.
If I don’t use all my Currency, can I get a refund?
If you don’t use all of your GABS Currency at the festival, never fear! GABS Currency refunds will be available online only from Monday 1 July (noon) to Sunday 14 July (midnight). Refunds will then be processed from Tuesday 16 July (6pm). Just make sure you hang on to your GABS Currency Wristband as you'll need the number printed on it to claim your refund. Visit gabsfestival.com/refunds between these dates to arrange your refund. Please note the minimum refund amount is $1.
I have applied to be a volunteer. Do I need to purchase a ticket?
Great work. We love our volunteers! All volunteers, once approved by our team and appointed a role, will be given a unique code to redeem two complimentary General Admission tickets to a session of their choice. Please note this ticket must be for a session after the volunteer session.
Will tickets sell out?
The majority of GABS sessions will sell out. If in doubt, best to purchase your ticket as early as possible.
What if I don’t have proof of age?
GABS reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone unable to prove their age. No refunds will be provided in this occurrence.
When do the bars close?
All bars serving alcohol will close 15 minutes before the advertised closing time of each GABS session.
What sort of behaviour is unacceptable?
If anyone thinks GABS is a swillathon, they will only be disappointed. While GABS is all about responsible beer appreciation and education in a fun and festive atmosphere, anti-social behaviour will not be accepted. Please note also that all bags are subject to inspection at any point during the event. Bottles, cans, glass, food, drink, alcohol, illicit drugs, illegal substances, fireworks, explosives or anything that can be used as a weapon cannot be brought into the event.
I have a question that’s not answered here.
