When English sailor Sir Francis Drake reached the spice island of Moluccas in 1579, this marked the first initial contact between Indonesia and the United Kingdom. Fast forward to December 1949, both countries established their diplomatic relations and have since maintained strong relations. The link between the two countries is deep and broad; ranging from trade and investment to education, arts and culture.
Celebrating the 70th anniversary of Indonesia and the United Kingdom Diplomatic Relations this year, we are pleased to invite you join us at the Gala Evening at Cadogan Hall, 17 June 2019.
A spectacular arts and culture performance by hundreds of Indonesian and British artists will take you to explore the wonderful stories of a great friendship between Indonesia and the UK.
