Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is looking to expand its teacher workforce for the 2019-2020 school year. More than 50 schools will be interviewing and selecting candidates for licensed/certified positions including, teachers, psychologists, media specialists and school counselors. We welcome candidates from both in and out of state.
We will not be staffing for school administration (Principals and Assistant Principals), central office, auxiliary, or unlicensed positions during this event. Additionally, this event is not a transfer fair for internal (CMS) teachers - full time internal teachers are not eligible for this event. Teachers in End of Year (EOY) contracts are eligible to attend.
FAQs
What steps should I take prior to the event to prepare?
All candidates should complete an instructional application at www.cms.k12.nc.us/jobs prior to the event. You may want to apply for specific positions at the same time. We suggest candidates participate in our "How to prepare for the fair" webinar. Registration can be found at: https://register.gotowebinar.com/register/5330579005229544717 (Copy and paste this link into a new browser to register.)
All candidates seeking an alternative license should order official, degree dated transcripts from their university and bring them to the event. Please see event confirmation email for additional information on the Alternative License Information session and EPP Open House that will take place prior to the start of the fair.
What should I bring to the event?
All candidates should bring multiple copies of their resume and dress professionally.
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Email recruiter@cms.k12.nc.us with any questions or give us a call (980) 343-1848. We are unable to answer emails or phone calls on the day of the event. The event will happen rain or shine.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Your registration is not transferrable as we collect unique data during the registration process. Each candidate should have a separate registration. It is to your advantage to register in advance even if your plans change and you are unable to come the day of the event.

I do not hold a teaching license. Am I eligible to attend?
In order to attend, you must have a current or expired teaching license OR if you are pursuing an Alternative License, you must bring an official, degree dated copy of your college transcripts or proof of enrollment in an EPP.
What happened to Lateral Entry?
Lateral entry is an "alternate" route to teaching for qualified individuals outside of the public education system. Traditionally, CMS has hired many teachers through this pathway to fill vacancies. Please be aware that the State Board of Education is phasing out the “Lateral Entry Pathway.” This pathway will no longer be offered effective June 30, 2019. Therefore, Lateral Entry candidates who have not recieved their Lateral Entry License will not be considered for hire at this event.
Is there another option for someone without a license to attend? What about candidates eligible for the NC Residency License?
The Residency License will replace lateral entry as the alternative pathway to NC licensure. This is a one year license that is renewable twice. Candidates must bring a copy of their official, degree dated university transcripts to the event for proof of eligibility or bring proof of enrollment in a recognized Educator Preparation Program (EPP).
