Join us at ActiveCITY Summit 2019

After the failed plebiscite for the 2026 Olympic & Paralympic bid, many challenged whether our city is still committed to sport and recreation. The ActiveCITY Collective is our response to this challenge, but we know being a global leader will not happen by accident. It will only happen through collaboration, planning and commitment.

Over the next year, the ActiveCITY Collective will engage thousands of Calgarians to develop a collective vision and framework for maximizing the potential of our active economy and to transform Calgary into Canada’s most livable city. Please join community leaders and experts at the ActiveCITY Summit 2019 to debate the future of our active economy. Through dynamic speakers, panels and hands-on working groups, we will debate the biggest questions facing our active economy.  

1. What is the economic value of the active economy?

2. What is the social and civic value of the active economy?

3. How does the active economy contribute to broader economic outcomes?

4. What will define a world-class active city in the future?

5. Where and how should we invest to maximize the potential of our active economy?

6. How can we increase collaboration to reach our potential?

Who Should Attend?

This discussion and debate is important to all those who engage in the active ecosystem and the active economy. The event is open to anyone interested in building a more robust active economy, focused on driving increased social, economic, human and environmental value to our community. This includes but is not limited to:

• Professionals and volunteers in sport and recreation, health & wellness and business (human resources, organizational wellness, etc.)

• Policymakers and/or scholars in sport, recreation, health & wellness and urban planning

• Individuals who engage in the active ecosystem through grassroots sport and recreation including

  • Coaches and parents   

  • High-performance athletes and trainers 

  • All Calgarians interested in the active economy

Ticketing

We believe that equitable access to opportunities allows us to create a more inclusive and enriched environment for people from a variety of backgrounds. In an effort to make our event equitably accessible, ATB Financial is generously supporting a sliding scale ticket model for students, seniors, non-profit members, and other equity-seeking groups. As a grassroots community initiative, the registration fee will cover hard costs related to the event and a one-year membership in the ActiveCITY Collective.

The ActiveCITY Collective offers a range of memberships for organizations and individuals to become engaged in powering the future of our active economy. All membership fees go to support ActiveCITY Collective Initiatives and Programming. Registration to ActiveCITY Summit 2019, automatically includes a one-year membership in the ActiveCITY Collective.
