From Planned Parenthood’s fight to protect reproductive rights to issues of discrimination and disparity emphasized by celebrities like Beyoncé and Serena Williams, women’s health is in the spotlight. And these are not concerns faced solely by Americans: women around the world face policies, sexism, and racism that impact their health and the quality of the health care they receive.
In this discussion, we will look at women’s health from a variety of perspectives, from the global viewpoint to local issues faced by women here in Washington, DC. Moderated by SIS professor Rachel Robinson, panelists include:
Suyanna Barker – Chief of Programs and Community Services, La Clínica del Pueblo
Jennifer Kates – Senior Vice President and Director of Global Health & HIV Policy, Kaiser Family Foundation
Serra Sippel – President, CHANGE
The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
SIS Global to Local is an occasional event series examining issues through local, national, and global lenses.
