Welcome to The Story.
This year we're celebrating 10 years of The Story conference on Friday 22 February 2019 at The Conway Hall in London. Last year's event was full of creative, diverse, inspirational speakers including Jarvis Cocker, Juno Dawson, Mandy Rose, Elijah, Zoe Whitely, Lisa-Maria Neudert, Camilla Wright and Tanya Bryne.
As always, The Story is an independent event - we don't take any payment ourselves for running it, so we put the income from ticket sales into paying our speakers properly, covering all their costs and making sure they have everything they need to give a fantastic talk on the day. You're paying to see them, after all, so we believe in paying all our speakers for their hard work.
To celebrate our 10th anniversary this year, we are launching The Story Academy, and a significant portion from ticket sales will support our new initiative. The Story Academy is a new initiative to support young creative talent, from disadvantaged backgrounds. And as a gift to all attendees, everyone will get a handsome book of talks from past Story conferences. We're also looking for partners to support the launch of the Story Academy. If you, your company or organisation would like to get involved please get in touch rifa@storythings.com
This year, standard tickets are £100 (+VAT) which includes a free 10th anniversary Story Book. Last chance tickets are £150 (+VAT).
But we're creating discount codes for students, subscribers to our newsletter, and other partners. This will help us target the discounts to the people who are loyal fans of The Story, or who really need them because otherwise they couldn't afford to attend. We're committed to making The Story as accessible as possible, so hopefully this discount code system will really help.
The Story 2019 will again be a celebration of everything that is wonderful, inspiring and awesome about stories, in whatever medium possible. We’ll have stories that are written, spoken, played, described, enacted, whispered, projected, orchestrated, performed, printed – whatever form stories come in, we hope to have them here.
Thanks!
Matt, Hugh, Anjali and the team at Storythings.
