On Thursday, August 8, Greater Twin Cities United Way is teaming up with the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center to host Action Day 2019, an all-ages, family-friendly volunteer event to help Twin Cities kids go back to class set up for success!
Since 2016, Greater Twin Cities United Way has been bringing together volunteers to pack backpacks and help local students start the year ready to learn. In 2019, we'll unite 4,000 volunteers to assemble 40,000 backpacks that will benefit 50 agency partners.
Register now to volunteer to have an immediate impact during an unforgettable day with all seven of Minnesota’s pro sports teams.
In addition to volunteering, Action Day will be action-packed, featuring a Prize Playbook, games, prizes and photo booths.
To minimize the volunteer lines, please sign up for one of three timeframes:
- 12 – 3 p.m. - 1st Period
- 3 – 5 p.m. - 2nd Period
- 5 – 7 p.m. - 3rd Period
You’re welcome to enjoy all the activities Action Day has to offer for as long as you’d like, however, we ask you complete the volunteer project during the timeframe for which you sign up.
All backpack assembly volunteers must be ages 8 and up. Children under the age of 8 can still complete a special volunteer project.
Remember, you can also make a difference by buying a backpack for a child in need! Set up a fundraiser, join a team, or make a donation after registration. $28 buys a backpack for a student in need.
#YourActionMatters to education so that by 2021, every K-12 child in the Greater Twin Cities can start their school year with a backpack and supplies needed for success in the classroom.
